WASHINGTON, D.C. – This Sunday, May 12, marks the beginning of National Skilled Nursing Care Week® (NSNCW), which will continue through Saturday, May 18. Using storytelling to bridge connections across generations, this year's theme, “Radiant Memories: A Tribute to the Golden Age of Radio,” highlights the significant role skilled nursing organizations play in delivering compassionate, person-centered care to America’s seniors and individuals with disabilities.
"This week, we recognize the dedicated individuals who are essential to long term care—our staff and caregivers," said Mark Parkinson, President and CEO of the American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL). "They consistently exceed our expectations by ensuring that those in their care receive not only the necessary support but also the respect and dignity they deserve. I encourage everyone to participate in this week's events, visit your local care centers, and express your gratitude to these remarkable people who diligently care for our community members."
"As we mark National Skilled Nursing Care Week, let’s celebrate the profound connections our centers foster within our communities," said Clif Porter, Senior Vice President of Government Relations at AHCA/NCAL. "My journey in long term care began during this very week years ago, and I have continually witnessed the incredible difference our centers make in the lives they touch. It’s a privilege to honor the dedication and compassionate service of our staff and caregivers during this special week."
“ShiftKey is excited to sponsor National Skilled Nursing Care Week,” said Brandon Tappan, Chief Revenue Officer at ShiftKey. “This special week highlights the remarkable dedication of nurses and their teams in enhancing the well-being of each person they care for. Let’s celebrate their significant contributions.”
First established in 1967 by AHCA, NSNCW is observed annually beginning on Mother’s Day. This year’s theme, “Radiant Memories: A Tribute to the Golden Age of Radio,” embraces a time when the airwaves resonated with captivating stories and melodies. In skilled nursing care centers, residents and staff contribute to the creation of radiant memories, akin to the cherished moments shared through music and stories over the radio waves. The week offers activities and events aimed at both entertaining and fostering community bonds, underscoring the essential role skilled nursing organizations play in supporting America’s seniors and individuals with disabilities.
Community members are encouraged to join in the celebrations this week by reaching out to local skilled nursing care centers to express their appreciation. Find local skilled nursing care centers by visiting https://ourseniorcare.org/care-finder/.
