AHCA/NCAL Updates
Washington, D.C. The American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL), representing more than 14,000 nursing homes and other long term care facilities across the country that provide care to approximately five million people each year, released a statement today in reaction to the assassination attempt on former President Trump on July 13, 2024.

The following statement is attributable to AHCA President and CEO Mark Parkinson:

“This weekend’s assassination attempt was a senseless act of violence and attack on our nation’s democracy. Our hearts go out to President Trump, the loved ones of Mr. Comperatore, and all those who were injured and present. We also express our gratitude to the heroic Secret Service and law enforcement agents who put their lives on the line to save others.

“Violence has no place anywhere, including our political process. We are indebted to the millions of men and women working in our nation’s nursing homes who are committed to caring for others—whether their residents or their fellow neighbor. The long term care community stands united in condemning this heinous act and in calling for peace.”
