Update: AHCA Provides More Regulatory Resources for LTC Providers in 2024

​In 2024, the AHCA/NCAL Regulatory and Clinical Team continues to update long-term care (LTC) providers with recently published resources. These resources were prepared with AHCA/NCAL members in mind and reflect member feedback in their creation. The Association aims to support providers by ensuring they have the tools to stay compliant with various regulatory requirements. ​

§483.10 Resident Rights: 
New Survey Tip Sheet provides key information to long-term care providers for regulatory compliance under §483.10: 
§483.71 Facility Assessment: 
The Strengthening Facility Assessments to Adapt to Regulatory Changes webinar provides facility leadership with regulations, CMS guidance, operational considerations, and examples of actions facilities have taken to implement the new requirements effective August 8, 2024.  
 
The webinar also includes a Q&A section along with myths vs. facts to help facilities fully understand the updates to the Facility Assessment.

§483.72 Emergency Preparedness: 
Preparing for Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS):  A Guide for Nursing Homes is a new resource providing a comprehensive guide to support nursing homes in preparing for PSPS events. 
 
§483.80 Infection Control: 
F880, Infection Prevention and Control continues to be one of the top ten citations in 2024. With the implementation of Enhanced Barrier Precautions (EBP) on April 1, AHCA has observed increased citations related to EBP. 

AHCA has recently posted an EBP Toolkit, including information adapted from the toolkit developed by the Arkansas Health Care Association, in partnership with the American Health Care Association. This toolkit is designed for healthcare staff in long-term care and assisted living facilities, supported by the Arkansas Department of Health Grant Project #4600054057. 
 
Additional Regulatory Resources: 
The Five-Star Quality Rating System education program offers comprehensive training for nursing facility administrators and nurse leaders. This program provides a detailed review of the methodology for the overall Five-Star Quality Rating System, including the separate domains for health inspections, staffing, and quality measures. 

Cost: $40 AHCA Members | $80 Non-Members 
Certificate of Completion: 1.5 NAB and 1.5 contact hours through the Iowa Board of Nursing available upon course completion.
