USCIS Reaches H-2B Cap for First Half of Fiscal Year 2025 Workforce Published:September 24, 2024 Dana Ritchie Rollup Image Page ContentOn September 19, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced that it has reached the congressionally mandated cap on H-2B visas for temporary nonagricultural workers for the first half of fiscal year 2025. September 18 was the final date for new cap-subject H-2B petitions requesting an employment start date before April 1, 2025. USCIS will reject any new cap-subject H-2B petitions received after September 18 that request an employment start date before April 1, 2025.The H-2B program allows U.S. businesses to employ foreign workers for temporary nonagricultural positions. While the cap for the first half of fiscal year 2025 has been reached, USCIS is still accepting H-2B petitions that are exempt from the congressionally mandated cap.
