NOW AVAILABLE: New CMS National Summary Report for PAC Providers

Long Term Care; Medicare; Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNF)

In October 2023, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released two Health Equity Confidential Feedback Reports to post-acute care (PAC) providers, including Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNFs): the Discharge to Community (DTC) Health Equity Confidential Feedback Report and the Medicare Spending Per Beneficiary (MSPB) Health Equity Confidential Feedback Report.

These reports include stratified data that compare your nursing home’s outcomes to national and regional performance, as well as within your own facility (e.g., outcomes for dual-eligible vs. non-dual-eligible residents). Nursing homes that received these reports in iQIES last October may review the results to develop strategies for reducing the impacts of social risk factors on their residents.

New National Summary Report
To provide additional national and regional data across all PAC providers, CMS has released a National Summary Report, which is publicly available on CMS.gov. The new National Summary Report offers insights into aggregate (e.g., national-level) differences in quality by dual-enrollment status and race/ethnicity across all PAC settings. This report can be used as a reference by PAC providers who received the 2023 Health Equity Confidential Feedback Reports.

Since this report is publicly available, it can also help other stakeholders understand aggregate variations in the stratified DTC and MSPB measure outcomes.

CMS has also provided an Executive Summary of the National Summary Report, which serves as a quick overview of the main findings. Additionally, the National Summary Results workbook includes the full set of results contained in the National Summary Report.
