CMS Announces Resources and Flexibilities to Assist with the Public Health Emergency in the State of Florida

​​​The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced today additional resources ​and flexibilities available in response to Hurricane Milton in Florida. 

CMS is working closely with the State of Florida and federal partners to assist with resources and waivers to ensure health care providers can continue to operate and provide care​ to those affected by this natural disaster.​

On October 7, 2024, President Biden determined that an emergency exists in Florida due to the emergency conditions resulting from Hurricane Milton beginning October 5, 2024, and continuing. Additionally, on October 8, 2024, Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra determined that a Public Health Emergency exists in Florida and has existed since October 5, 2024. 

Beneficiaries and providers of healthcare services that have been impacted are encouraged to seek help by visiting CMS’ emergency webpage.
