Advocates at Work

Advocacy; Congressional Briefing

We kicked off June with Congressional Briefing on June 3-4, where more than 640 AHCA/NCAL members flew into Washington, D.C. to advocate for long term care. The timing for our members to be in the nation’s capital was critical as we continue to fight the unfunded minimum staffing mandate from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). It was a great success with AHCA/NCAL members taking to the Hill, visiting more than 250 Congressional offices.

With Congressional Briefing done, the work continues. Now is the time to invite your Member of Congress to tour your facility or community. As an election year, Members have significant time on the calendar in the next few months to be back in their districts and states. Facility and community tours are a great opportunity for Members of Congress to see firsthand the quality care we deliver to the residents we serve. As we continue to fight the unfunded staffing mandate legislatively, we need more legislators to see for themselves what the fight is for.
