Updated Resources Available Related to Revised LTC Survey Guidance Long Term Care; Programs and Resources Published:March 11, 2025 regulatory@ahca.org Rollup Image Page ContentOn November 18, 2024, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released Revised Long-Term Care (LTC) Surveyor Guidance: Significant Revisions to Enhance Quality and Oversight of the LTC Survey Process. The memo included significant changes to guidance in Appendix PP related to several regulatory areas. The memo was updated on January 16, 2025 and March 7, 2025, to include additional updates to guidance and survey critical element pathways. The changes will be effective April 28, 2025, with surveyors beginning to survey based on the revised guidance. This effective date was delayed from the original memo. Several resources were updated to address changes to the guidance related to antipsychotic medications and the documentation and capture of a schizophrenia diagnosis on the MDS.
