AHCA/NCAL President and CEO Mark Parkinson has been honored as one of Washington, DC’s 500 Most Influential People of 2024 by Washingtonian magazine.
According to the publication, there are three factors that go into selection for this prestigious list:
- Deep subject-matter expertise and significant understanding of how the nation’s capital works and a goal to get action;
- Understanding the nuances and complexities of a particular issue area; and
- A focus on policy subjects the publication thinks are of special relevance right now to elected officials.
Mark’s recognition focuses on efforts to support Medicare payments, stating, “Despite a call from the Medicare Advisory Panel for cuts, Parkinson helped clinch a 12th consecutive Medicare funding increase as members of his association have continued to recover from pandemic-induced financial stress.”
This recognition is one of many he has received over the past year, including the McKnight’s Career Achievement Award and a 2023 Top Lobbyist by The Hill, his 11th consecutive year to receive this honor. He also had the distinction of being selected as one of the “100 Most Influential People in Healthcare” by Modern Healthcare in 2023 for the fifth time. Most recently, Mark was awarded the American Association of Post-Acute Care Nursing LTPAC Lifetime Impact Award.
