Free December 10 Webinar Focuses on Dining and Nutrition Outcomes for Residents with Dementia

Dining is a multi-sensory experience that those living with dementia may not be fully experiencing. AHCA/NCAL, the Dementia Connection Institute, and Incite Strategic Partners are hosting a free webinar on Tuesday, December 10 at 1 PM EST titled, “Optimizing Dining and Nutrition Outcomes for Residents with Dementia.” 

This session will focus on nutrition issues specific to dementia, including nutrients and food components to support cognitive health, dementia dining issues, and evidence-based sensory techniques for enhancing wellness at mealtimes. Newly developed programming addressing the multi-sensory nature of eating and the dining environment can enhance mealtimes for those with dementia.  

Learning objectives include: 
  • ​Be able to describe the need to consume a nutritious diet for those living with dementia and consequences of low intake. 
  • List three foods/ food components/ nutrients shown to improve cognitive health, boost mood, and support physical health in older adults with dementia. 
  • Understand the evidenced-based, sensory techniques in offering an effective wellness dining program based on the Dementia Connection Model©.
