Leveraging Data in Assisted Living – The Key to Quality Improvement

Assisted Living; AHCA/NCAL Updates

Assisted living communities are entering a crucial time when data is essential for improving quality of care. It presents an opportunity to address existing data gaps, and access to complete data can help communities identify areas of opportunity for improvement. Using electronic data platforms can aid in collecting and comparing data, promoting quality through data analysis to determine baselines and effectiveness of improvement efforts.

Data can enhance resident and provider outcomes by providing a comprehensive view of how the organization is doing compared to others. Data also plays a key role in identifying trends in outcome measures, improving operational efficiency and regulatory compliance, enhancing safety, and supporting technological innovation.

Assisted living providers should engage in a national platform for collecting and analyzing data such as AHCA/NCAL’s
LTC Data Cooperative and LTC Trend Tracker. Participating allows for better comparisons among peer organizations and highlight opportunities for quality improvements. Data is crucial for assisted living communities to improve care quality and efficiency. By leveraging data, communities can enhance resident well-being and operational effectiveness.
